A hidden treasure close to the Polynesia Cultural Center. In the short 8 days in Oahu, we have tried twice because its spicy shrimp is soooooo good. We tried Aloha Shrimp food truck first and then tried the others including the famous Gxxx. The other food trucks may have more advertisements thus longer lines and more expensive while not as good as Aloha shrimp. That's why my picky boy insisted to go back to Aloha Shrimp before we leave. We were lucky to make it before it closed. The 2nd time is as yummy as it is. Absolutely recommended!
Very good north shore Oahu shrimp truck, with a good variety of offerings (As long as it is shrimp! reminds me of Forrest Gump!). It would be good if there was a place to wash up afterwards.
Fantastic garlic shrimp! Great shrimp truck if you're in the area. Hit the spot after a tour at Kualoah Ranch.
In planning to relive a memorable dining experience and coming from Waikiki, I did not want to come up to Hauula just to get a plate of food. I did a Yelp search and this was one of two businesses that had a 4+ star rating so I bookmarked it as another stop. Using Google maps on my phone, we reached here a little after 11 am on a Monday morning. A gentleman was seated at one of the tables under the tent who we later learned is part of the business. As we walked up to the truck, we read the menu posted on the truck (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=kol7vIWic1KvkebZ8gw5CQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). After reading it, I asked the lady who manned the truck for her recommendation and she answered without hesitation. A few minutes later, we both were under the tent and eating our spicy garlic lemon shrimp plate (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=IYJkne-7n2fkgPt-3wMZ1g&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). At first glance, I was surprised by the size of the shrimp which I would almost categorize as prawns. Need proof of how much I like it... burp (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=qWaTk4yIdRg-8bx1xE02CQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q)? The sauce was delicious and not overly spicy. My experience with shrimp truck plates is limited as I've only dined at that famous Haleiwa one across from the McD's as you enter town. I liked this more and the accompaniments were certainly more interesting... I enjoy canned corn and don't start me about pineapples. The sweetness of both contrasted well with the tangy, spicy, garlicky sauce on the shrimp and my rice. Before leaving, I was curious and asked the lady's nationality and name. Big thanks to Ms. Zhao or Zhou (sp) for steering us to an enjoyable lunch (she's from a Northeastern province in China). I wouldn't hesitate to stop here again next time I'm in the area. *** Nice to find it is Judy C. approved too (https://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=1cW_ZPWHNS0IJsxMblwIjw) as I just read her review as well as Nadine's (https://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=Ggx8iUdJ7lsQSqXRuclXtg).
A welcome shrimp truck on north shore (after Fumi closed). Easy parking with picnic benches. The 6 shrimps were delicious...with shells on and great sauce. I'd recommend bringing some wet wipes to not only clean the picnic table but your hands.
Located on the north shore, Aloha Shrimp is a super cute shrimp truck with plenty of covered seating. The woman working the truck was so sweet. We did have to wait a bit for our order bit it was worth the wait as the food was DELICIOUS. The food was truly made to order. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. The coconut flakes on my shrimp were so tasty. It gave the shrimp such a nice crunch! The shrimp had a great flavor, not too overpowering with the coconut. It was perfect, yum! The rice and corn paired with it so nicely. My husband got the spicy shrimp and it was spicy! The lady manning the truck mentioned it was the most popular item on the menu, and it's easy to see why. So so good! Full of flavor, juicy, and tasty. Would definitely come back!
Honestly so pleasantly surprised by the shrimp here. We had the unfortunate pleasure of going to North shore the same day a car accident happened that made the two way road come to a dead stop and we were unable to get to kahuku farms. Instead we got to have aloha shrimp that felt made to order, patience is well worth it and it definitely hit the spot. When I asked for extra sauce I had to wait until they could make it. The shrimp was so good, I tasted all the yummy garlic seasoning and freshness of the shrimp. The three of us split 4 plates and finished everything. I'll definitely come out here again on my Northshore adventures. My favorite was definitely the spicy garlic, but they were all good from the garlic and lemon pepper. Full of flavor for each.
This place is definitely really unassuming. Small truck . Run down. But the flavor was good. I liked the garlic sauce. Shrimp was cooked nicely. Not my favorite. But not bad
Hole in da wall dat makes excellent shrimp. Da place starting with the letter G used to be good, but with popularity output took over for quality. Truck no longer running, but good food coming out of it. Ladies that run it are very friendly and helpful. Portions are smaller than other spots, but so is price. Good stop, especially if getting something else to share at Kaya's
Made a quick pitstop along the way to Kahuku and was delighted to have experienced aloha shrimp! This spot is absolutely worth the hype and the wait! The spicy garlic lemons shrimp was absolutely incredible! Juicy, spicy, tangy, and a perfect mouthful of shrimp. I loved that the rice had a dollop of the spicy garlic sauce atop it; I couldn't get enough! I highly recommend this to all folks would happen to be within driving distance! You can't beat fresh, perfectly seasoned, and delicious shrimp!
